July 29, 2017 at 12:18 am in reply to: Auxiliary timecode changing on clips with same source/tape name? How did you create you Proxy Media, in Avid, Resolve or with another App.
Please let me know and maybe I can help you setup the Tape/Reel Names properly. The Tape/Reel Name must not be the same for each clip in a Bin, if it is then Avid and even Resolve won’t be able to relink to the original Media properly. Also if your are going to do a Resolve Round Trip then Relinking will not happen and this will cause you a ton of issues now and down the road. The Tape Name is derived from either Embedded Metadata in the original Media or if there is none then it should be the same as the filename of each clip.
The reason the Tape/Reel Name is so important is because when you create grouped clips you rename the clips name column to say Scene/Take or whatever and now there is no reference back to the original clip. Even the grouping process changes key Metadata thats required for Re-Linking but the Tape/Reel Name always carries through and is therefore used for the Re-Link. All NLE’s rely very heavily on the Tape/Reel Name (Avid uses “Tape” and Resolve uses “Reel”) for linking back to the original media. So if you have say 10 Go-Pro Clips that all have the same Tape/Reel Name and Time Code then any NLE will Re-Link to the first one it finds with the same T/C and that will likely be the wrong clip.
You will need to fix this before you go on or you may never be able to relink to the original media without a hell of mess.
I would say that you will need to Re-Transcode and Re-Group all the Clips before you go any further.\”MY MEDIA/PROJECT MOTO: If you think three copies of your media or project are enough.
Take a moment to place a value on them and then maybe add two more.

It can’t relink because they are not the same clips and will not have the same Metadata because the track count is different.
If you Transcoded to Avid OP-Atom MXF and there is one track of audio then you will have two files per clip. One that’s the Video and one that’s the Audio but if there were originally 8 then there will be 9 MXF Files.
No NLE will relink to Media with a different track count properly or at all.
Bringing in a new database file will bring in new clips because again it’s not the same as the previous clip.
Avid is looking for the same Metadata in the Master Clip and will not relink unless it is identical.\”MY MEDIA/PROJECT MOTO: If you think three copies of your media or project are enough.

Adobe can you at least step in here.
This makes absolutely no sense why PP is changing the Track Allocations.\”MY MEDIA/PROJECT MOTO: If you think three copies of your media or project are enough.

I believe Shane is correct about spanned clips, so then Linking and Transcoding would be the way to do it.
I would only Transcode though if Avid has any playback issues like stuttering or stalling.

This may help.
Or use the free version of Resolve if that PC can run it.https://www.acrovid.com/footagestudio.htm

July 26, 2017 at 7:26 pm in reply to: Must force quit DaVinci Resolve 14b5 on El CapitanOne more thought have you installed the Nvidia WebDrivers and did you go into System Preferences and make sure the CUDA Drivers are up to date.
You can find the Nvidia Web Drivers at MacVidCards although I did have to search the net to find the latest 346.03.15f09 Version for Apples last Security Update. I found them here.

Forgot to state this.
If I put an Apple GT-120 for my GUI with my GTX-980Ti Resolve only uses the GT-120 for Rendering.
At least that’s what iStatMenus says.Again I state, Apple has become a major A-Hole Company.

Ever since Mavericks or Yosemite (not sure which one) Apple built a restriction on GPU’s into there OS’s.
If the Graphics Cards are not APPLE GPU’s then the OS will only recognize one of them.
The only Dual GPU Machine they have that will see both of them is the Trash Can.What A-holes but not surprising for Apple.
