October 9, 2017 at 5:46 am in reply to: Issue creating new sequence with old sequenceIt really shouldn’t turn to B&W but how are you creating a new sequence from an old sequence.
The best way is to just right click on the sequence and Duplicate it.

I am having a similar issue that just started recently on only one of my systems and makes absolutely no sense. In my case absolutely nothing has changed on my system, not even a PP update. If I right click in a Bin even all the way to the right on my right monitor the dialoge box opens about two to three inches from the left edge of my left monitor.
Talk about ridiculous and annoying. I’ve tried clearing all of PP’s preferences, a complete uninstall and re-install etc. with no success. I will give your suggestions a try and hopefully they fix it. If not I will be back to ask for some other suggestions.
Gonna cross my fingers and hope you suggestion help.
Thanks

October 5, 2017 at 3:32 am in reply to: iPad movie plays in QT Player but won’t importThere are a lot of people who run into problems with Videos from Smart Phones and Tablets because they are variable frame rate.
The most common suggestion is to transcode them with Handbrake to a constant frame rate Codec.

You could always export an H.264 directly out of Avid.
If you want to use Compressor then export a ProRes or DNxHD QuickTime out of Avid and then run it through Compressor.

Can you supply more info about the H.264 Files.
What Frame Rate, Bit Rate and so on.Is there any reason why they can’t just AMA Link these files and cut with them as is or is the system not able to play them back properly.
Importing the files at 1:1 really isn’t going to accomplish anything except using a ton of hard drive space. These H.264 files are compressed so the quality is not going to get better by importing them as 1:1. If they can’t use them as is AMA Linked then AMA Link them and Transcode them to one of the DNxHD Codecs. Just so you know most of the Codecs you would Transcode to will still likely be larger than the original media. Most Camera’s that record to H.264 use bit rates of about 20 to 50mbit and generally no more than 100mbit. If the originals are 10bit and 23.976fps and you were to Trancode to DNx175x to keep it 10 bit then as you can see they will end up being larger than the original media. These cameras can record at these lower bit rates because they use Long GOP Codecs were as Codecs like DNxHD and ProRes are not.
Will try to help more once I know more about the original media.

Many Theatres will also accept BluRays.

Download Wave Agent from Sound Devices and then drop these audio files into it.
It will not only give you the Frame Rate but all of the embedded MetaData in these Audio Files. If they were not recorded at 23.976 then you will have to Sample Rate Convert them to the correct Frame Rate.

I would think that the default AME 10mb setting would work great or use the built in YouTube Preset.

Have you tried removing the Red Codec and Re-Installing it or just updating all of the Red Software. Maybe something’s corrupt the Codec.
