    The 60D is nice because of the flip LCD Screen. It comes in handy when shooting video at different positions. I prefer the 7D since it is a better quality case.

    Lenses: I’d start first with a 24-70 2.4 L-Series Lense. The L-Series are the best glass canon makes and gives you a great look and color. The bundled lenses for the 60D is a lower quality glass and isn’t as good in low light.

    When you budget asks for it, 70-200 L-Series would be my next purchase, followed by Prime Lenses, 50, 80, etc.

    This should cover your needs, but remember, it is a STILL camera that happens to shoot amazing video. Downside, no audio controls, auto focus is worthless when shooting video for moving subjects. It’s very challenging to shoot moving subjects because you have to constantly adjust your focus.

    It’s possible your 7D’s may be overheating. I had these issues until I updated the firmware.

    Did you transfer the entire 5D folder to your hard drive? If you separated the video files from the data files, it might not read it.

    Your first camera shouldn’t be a DSLR for the reasons you mentioned. Either the Panasonic or the Sony EX-1 would work.

    You can get a Canon 60 D if you want to add the DSLR to your list of cameras.

    Canon has a new camera, the XA-10 which should be great for your purpose. It’ll give you video camera features with a lot of flexibility and audio controls.

    Use a tripod. You can fold the legs together and extend one leg for monopod use. If they have the budget, then get the new Canon 60D DSLR, not the Tli.

    Never Delete your orginal. This is your MASTER. That’s just like throwing away the tape, when you used tape cameras. I have two copies of the master on two separate drives.

    You can buy a hard drive dock and use internal drives. Or burn files to a BluRay disc.

    60D looks good, but plastic body. 7D is built to last. 60D has that swivel screen which is valuable to a videographer.

    Buy the canon L-Series Lenses. They’ll last forever if you take care of them and the look and colors are worth the price. I try not to use a shoulder mount. These cameras do not work well with movement. They have a Jello effect when you have skaky handheld movements. I do use a glidecam with the 7D. Most of my shots are on a tripod.

    Here are the lenses by priority: (all canon L-Series)
    24-70mm 2.4 ( is what I use most )
    50 mm 1.2 macro
    70-200 2.4
    80 mm 1.4

    Prime lenses: 50mm 80mm 100mm are the best quality if you have the cash to buy all the lenses. I found it better to start with 2 and add more as your budget grows.

    I also use the EX-1 for my other camera that also allows me to monitor and capture the audio.

    Zoom H4N
    Rode shotgun Mic’s
    7″ external HD monitor with HDMI (go to lcd4video.com for the best deal)
    Tripod
    Slider (either Glidtrack’s new Hybrid or DP Slider: Both great for those Dolly shots and big budget corporate shots.)
    Glidecam (later, when you have the budget add the vest)

    All this being said. If I were doing corporate work, I would invest in the EX-1 first and buy a 60D as the B-Camera.

    Have you checked your firmware for upgrades? I’ve had issues on my EX-1 before the firmware upgrade using the same Transcend cards. I had two shoots lost due to the dreaded “Restore Media” prior to these updates.

    A few months ago I had my 2nd shooter forget to change the battery on a shoot and had the camera turn off during recording using the SxS card. It restored media, all still there.

    I still have the adapter’s, but use them only after I’ve filled my SxS cards first. I still have a sinking feeling using SD cards due to my bad experience.
