Unfortunately, it isn’t as wide as your LCD screen.

You can edit with any monitor, but if you want a monitor with correct color, then you need to purchase a proper calibrated monitor, or a monitor that you can calibrate. TV’s are not the greatest solution when you need a correct color balance.

I would recommend buying 2 SxS cards and then add the adapter with the SD cards as backup in case you run out of space on a long shoot.

The SxS cards have saved me on a couple of shoots where my shooter let the battery die. The cards restored themselves in camera with no problems. I can’t say the same for the SD cards. I had 2 get wiped out and wasn’t able to restore them.

Your best bet would be to also purchase an external CF recorder that would give you redundancy, so you have 2 locations of captured media. It’s not cheap, but gives you peace of mind and security.

  • Hoodman makes a great loop. They just redisigned it.

The loop comes in handy when you are outside in bright sunlight. There is no way you can see the lcd screen in the bright sunlight without covering it up.

I also use a 7″ external monitor mounted on top of the camera to give me a bigger screen for critical focus.

If you have great eyes, you can use your screen, but if your off just a little on the focus, your shots are worthless.

Log and transfer should conform the footage without needing to transcode the clips.

Not sure what the issue is. You might want to post this on the Final Cut forum.

You really run into this issue with the steadicam pilot.

First, if you are doing a promo for the club, you should have communicated with them about proper lighting. You should have informed them that they have to boost their lighting for the video to turn out properly. You cannot allow them to keep their standard mood lighting if they want a properly shot video.

I never use on camera lighting for this type of shoot. You should have had off camera lighting set up to light the area you planned on shooting. Then you won’t have to deal with the spotlight in the eyes, which is irritating and looks bad.

They won’t get any lighter unless you use a DSLR. You’ll have to add weight using lighter cameras. Wecome to my world. That’s why I only take a few shots with it instead of wearing that thing all day.

If the screen is adjustable, you can close it partially to create a 16 x 9 screen.
