    im editing on edius with an hdspark card. besides my preview monitor on my computer screen, im using a samsung 22inch hd tv for external monitoring.
    will this suffice for edting purposes or should i look at the sony lm sieries of monitors. will they look that much better?

    You can edit with any monitor, but if you want a monitor with correct color, then you need to purchase a proper calibrated monitor, or a monitor that you can calibrate. TV’s are not the greatest solution when you need a correct color balance.

    There are compromises for those on a budget. The Matrox MXO2 can calibrate an HDMI monitor/TV. Spyder Elite can target REC 709. Those are clearly compromises but it can get you into the ballpark. It might be good enough for doing corporate or local cable spots. It certainly wouldn’t be ideal for TV series or feature work though.
