See if this gets you close: Draw a path on the test layer as noted by Blaise then select it in the “Path” dropdown. Animate the “First Margin” to drive your text along the path. Add a scale animation property. The range selector “start” should animate from 100 to 0 as the text moves down. The “scale” property at the bottom of the animator should animate from 50 to 0.

You would probably want to script out something that saves and then sends your current project to the watch folder. Maybe overwriting or deleting old aep’s that are in there already. You could even set it up so that the temporary Watch folder aep puts all render queue comps into the root directory while deleting others.

Instead of actually passing files around, you could log into a an unused computer remotely that has the needed file access. There are a million ways to do this. I believe there are some tools built into certain flavors of Windows and Mac OS’s… you can also use things like TeamViewer, Chrome Remote Desktop, etc.

Have you tried doing this using a repeater on shape layers?

  • Hmm. You might check to see if there’s an issue with something in your scripts startup folder.

Here on mac: /Applications/Adobe After Effects (version)/Scripts/Startup

    Here on Windows: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects (version)\Support Files\Scripts\Startup

It says the problem is on line 1, so if you have any scripting knowledge you may be able to check. Or if it’s a non-essential script, try removing the file.

  • I believe this is due to anti-aliasing. The pencil tool has no anti-aliasing, while the brush tool has it built in. My theory is that the shape tool uses a different kind of anti-aliasing – like how you can chose the different flavors of anti-aliasing when using the type tool.

Does the problem occur only in one project? How about if you create a new project and add grain to a solid. Same thing?

  • As far as Facebook exports … export a high quality image sequence from After effects. Bring that into premiere for audio editing. From Premiere, export an mp4 with h.264 codec. There are many presets for YouTube, Vimeo, etc that should work well.

  • I would highly recommend doing your audio work in a separate program – Premiere or Audition. Audio in after effects is really just for reference.
