[Simon Ubsdell] “Now if I were Brendan I’d have called this “Break for the Border” or something ;-)”

I think I’ve just been framed!

July 23, 2011 at 9:01 pm in reply to: Adding compound clip to event library

It’s a bit of workaround… (now there’s something we’ve heard in the last few weeks)

As Simon suggested you can create a new empty compound clip (opt+G – make sure no clips are selected) in the event browser, but back in your main timeline…arr I mean Project (get it right Brendan), select the clips you want, command +C to copy.

Back in the browser, select you previously made empty compound clip, right click and select “open in timeline”….now paste those clips you copied into it.

So now you have you compound clip in the library…in a little under 78 keystrokes 😉

July 23, 2011 at 4:13 pm in reply to: Grow/shrink acting strangely (I think!)

Here’s another way of stopping you grow / shrink behaviour, or any other parameter from popping back to it’s original scale.

Go to the end of where you grow shrink behaviour is trimmed to. Make sure you are parked on the last frame of the behaviour.

This behaviour is just driving the scale parameter in the inspector.

Head to the inspector for your layer, and go to the properties tab.

Right click / or control click on scale.

Select the “Stop” parameter from the pop-up window.

Your layer is now held at it’s final size.

Now you can go along your timeline further and add another grow/shrink if you want the image to scale again.

Because you add another grow / shrink over the top of the stop behaviour, it will take priority.

    Cheers,

Depends on how “funky” you want to go with this effect, you can try adding a third layer on top.

Maybe some sort of animating texture, put a different flicker speed on it and try out some blending modes.

Maybe be add the animating texture layer over some cuts for a few frames either side.

It really depends on what your eyes can handle 😉

Another option is to lay your audio track down in the primary storyline and then add your video as connected clips (Q) as needed.

It’s weird at first as it feels like you are editing your sound into V1. Old habits die hard I guess.

Quite a few different ways to achieve this, find the one that works best for you.

That’s the beauty about sharing the ideas like this…. hopefully we can get to see a multitude of ways that people would approach the same concept.

    Great fun!

The difference being, my attempt is probably a little bit rough around the edges…. just throwing the idea out there and hopefully it will be taken, tweaked….and made 100x beter than the original.

    Cheers,

    Brendan
