    Nice one!

I was working on a similar effect, now mine just feels like a pale imitation of yours 🙂

    Useful addition this. Thanks!

It was in FCP 7 generators, and I used it to help layer things up and make stuff. So a good one to have at hand in X.

    Cheers,

[Mark Dobson] “I managed to make my first effect today and successfully publish it. It was colour corrector and not very good but I felt a sense of utter satisfaction at having joined the fcp x effects club. I’ve now trashed it.”

    Share away 🙂

All ideas help everyone learn I think.

July 16, 2011 at 6:51 pm in reply to: Search Favorite

When you change the item type to search for in the events browser from “all Clips” to “Favorites”, your clips with favorites attached to them appear. Great!

It appears though that you can’t use the magnifying class search box top right to actually search for the name of a favourite that you created.

It’s weird that you cannot narrow you search further and search for your custom named favorites.

    Hi Mark,

    Thanks for the heads up.

Looks like it was an error by me. The effect source clip was trimmed 4 frames short of 10 seconds (fat finger syndrome by myself!)

    Here’s the updated version

  • Here’s a link for a good bit of inspiration regarding the tilt shift effect

One crucial bit, however I think it’s on by default. Any of these filters that have an onscreen control, for it to be visible back in FCPX you need to make sure the checkbox at the bottom of the filter inspector that says “Publish OSC” is checked.

Beyond me as well!…. Only found it out by jumping into some of the shipped presets.

Handy for finding out some cool stuff.

I think from memory I used it in the face blur effect I
    did.

You basically need to link the x,y coordinates of a filter, that’s not visible, and use a link parameter to drive the x,y transform of layer or mask etc.

You end up placing the filters onscreen control over the top of the middle of the layer you wish to transform.

I wish they would make it easier to be able to publish the onscreen controls for transforms etc.

Because at the moment, one of the ways is taking a filter that has a centre point control, such as light rays and pinch and then using a link parameter to to drive the x position of layer using the x position of the filter. Same again for the y. Not ideal….but hey it works.

Must get back to some real work 😉

    Cheers,

    Brendan
