Perhaps we need to collate all these great user generated plugin presets into a sticky post that can be updated.
We don’t want everyone’s hard work and brilliant sharing of ideas lost in space.

Yes it seems behaviours act a bit weird. It also seems there is no way to use motions retiming behaviours in a published preset to Fcpx.
And here’s a thought that’s been hurting my brain… It appears you can ‘rig’ your ‘rigs’ with the motion to Fcpx publishing. Had not checked it till now, but sure enough there is the same rigging menus appearing inside the animation menu for rigged items… Popup, checkbook, slider etc.
Now to think of the possibilities….

[Mark Dobson] “It is not possible to delete the effect from the clip or the inspector as per the instructions in the manual.”
I’m probably completely mis-understanding, can you not simply select the effect name in the video inspector and hit the backspace delete key?
That works here…. but only if I’m understanding correctly 😉

[Simon Ubsdell] “I know Brendan has probably already perfected his and made a half dozen other Effects this morning, but the rest of us are only mortal and it’s hard to keep up!”
You know what, I think I feel the “effect creation” equivalent of writers block coming on…lol

Yeah I had a build in / out on this. I think it’s one of those type of effects where you have a specific reveal rate in mind.
So by trimming it to whatever length you needed the reveal / hide rate is always the same. Of course unless you uncheck the build in /out etc.

Navigate to your user home directory in finder.
Then go to Movies / Motion Templates /
Depending on the type of effect, eg . effects, titles, transitions, generators, unzip the effect into the relevant folder.

[Nigel Beaumont] “Also, how do you delete a generator that you’ve created?”
Navigate to your user directory in finder, then from there go to:
Movies / Motion Templates / Generators /
From here look for the name of the generator you created that you no longer need and delete that folder.
*** Edit – sorry didn’t see the reply already detailing the delete procedure *****

Here’s a slower version of the panel effect. Twice as long reveals as originals. (20 frames)
FCP X BG You’re on the Panel (slower)
Hope that helps.

Here’s a rough preset that I think is close to the concept you want
FCP X custom effect to have a still or video reveal panel by panel. Transition off in reverse order
There are controls to adjust the scale and width of each mask.
The animation is set for each panel to animate in over 10 frames with a couple of frames overlap.
You can trim the effect to be as long as you need and the transition on and off will always be the same length if you leave the animate on / animate off boxes ticked in the parameters.
Depending on the size of the still images you have you may have to play around with the mask size and position of each panel to get the desired look.
Let me now if you want any adjusted timings done.
Extract to a folder of your choosing inside /user name / movies / motion templates / Effects
(e.g extract to a new folder called “Custom Effects”)Cheers,
Brendan
