Thanks for the solution. Man, I thought my FCP system was heading South. I guess all of the changes, rendering, more changes, rendering, etc causes this. Deleted all the render files as noted after I was completely done and then exported. Worked like a charm. I hope there’s a fix in an upcoming update. Kind of removes the benefit of background rendering if I have to do it all again at the end. Oh well, it’s working now which is all that matters.

September 4, 2011 at 8:18 pm in reply to: Motion 5 not publishing to FCPX without restartThanks, Mark. I came across the problem as I was reviewing your Motion 5 Fast Forward tutorial. I could have sworn it was working the first time I took the tutorial. Glad to know I wasn’t going out of my mind. Hope there’s an update soon to fix this.

Crap, you’re right. Only 4 segments when remapping. I can’t find another way around this. Thought it was more editable. Off to the Feedback/Suggestion site. :-0

Okay. Once you assign a time %, if you open the Time Remap editor, you can adjust the clip incrementally slower or faster to your liking. I swear I was just playing with the retiming key frames the first day, but can’t find it. This is one thing that is frustrating me, but working with a re-imagined app is going to do that. The power is there, I just have to stop forgetting where I was when I used it. It’s like being in school again. 🙂

Spoke too soon. Just went back and now I can’t find it. I’ll get back with you.

The contextual menu is only limited to the 4 time %’s. If you select the clip and press the Retiming Button in the tool bar, you are provided with a number of parameter adjustments. At first, I thought the same thing. Just need to explore a bit deeper. 🙂

You just confirmed my point. I never said the riot wasn’t justified. But your patronizing post just showed why I’m so turned off by the Cow forums now. I understand you’re pissed. Just stop rubbing it in people’s faces that have heard your complaint, understand your complaint, hope it gets fixed as much as you and would like to start moving on to learn this software to decide if I need to stick with it or jump ship. Peace.

Matt, Do you know Chris Theissen with Transworld Skateboarding? He’s a videographer with them. I produced his wedding last July. Great guy. Super talent.

If you look through the comments and rants on this forum, the overwhelming tone is that FCP-X is just fine for the non-Pro. Simply providing Broadcast material isn’t the only “Pro” profession. I get paid for my services (and paid well) providing physical media (DVD and Blu-Ray) and digital media via Web for events, weddings and corporate work. I don’t plan or need to be working in Broadcast.
It was just an observation as I “lurked” reading the comments made by people. Anyone that made a positive comment about the app is labeled an Apple apologist or someone that just tinkers with video toys to make home movies or skateboard videos (which, by the way are a very profitable business).
The Cow community has been a great place to come learn, but now I feel there is kind of a elite class that looks down on non-Broadcast editors or hold them in lower esteem. Doesn’t mean I won’t continue to come to learn. Just my opinion that the welcoming nature of the board seems tarnished.
