Yeah, it’s a png with alpha in a 720 sequence, and when I place it, it’s already getting scaled down to 30% to fit the canvas.

I was altering the values in the Motion tab, but using the Distort tool has the same problem. To reproduce it, I have to first scale down say to 10%, then move the anchor point and try the rotate. Only with the png, it works as it should with a .mov.

Thanks for the reply. Well actually, there would be a huge advantage to the 3D workflow to have it work like a 3D app’s viewports. In a 3D app, you have a viewport for your active camera that you set to have a cropped frame equal to whatever aspect ratio you’ll be rendering to, so 1.78, 1.85 or whatever. Then if you split your workspace to 4 viewports, the other orthographic/perspective viewports are rendering all textures on all geometry within the entire viewport. That’s what I’d like to do; I have my AE project split to 2 viewports; 1 for the active camera with cropped framing, and the other is also cropping, but I don’t want cropped framing in that viewport, I want the entire viewport to render everything. Is there really no way to do this in AE?
For now I’m taking your advice on creating a second camera, and moving that way back to fit everything in the frame, and then zooming the frame to fill the viewport, but then I have to navigate by transforming the camera and dealing with the perspective.

Okay, I had a preview AE CS4 installed, so I uninstalled that. I also went into the CS3 plug-ins folder and I had created a couple of folders for Plugins_Removed and Effects_Removed. I put parentheses around those folders since I read that’s how to get AE to ignore loading the contents of those folders, and put my AJA Kona plugins in there just in case. I restarted CS3 and had it delete preferences again, and now it all loads okay.
If you’re on a Mac w/ CS3, you have to run the update to enable OpenGL previews since 8.0.0 didn’t support OpenGL.

Hmm, I uninstalled AE, reinstalled, and upon opening the project, it now still gives a memory error w/ the same 5027 :: 3 code, but now instead of saying “After Effects: Out of Memory” it says “After Effects: not enough memory to create Preview Buffer.” Any ideas how to fix this?

Yeah, I’m wondering the same.

Okay, I know better than to ignore advice from Zelin. Thanks for detailing the issues that I would encounter; now I know what to look out for in case I forget your advice in the future and talk myself into temporarily bypassing the sync loop.

Yep, the deck was powered down. When on and set to PB the clicks are gone. Thanks.

Hmm, well both inputs are routed to the outputs of my digiBeta deck. I normally use the blackburst ref., but I’m rewiring my editbay. I’m not capturing, it clicks the audio all the time when hooked up like this. I’ll just switch back to freerun for now, it was just unexpected.
