Any audio operator who doesn’t know about “sync buzz” coming from close proximity to a monitor, or who does not FIRST check for hum by moving cables and other gear away from possible noise-generating sources, does not have much practical experience.

its certainly the first thing you learn after lunch-break the first day. 😉

And make SURE the deck is set to “DV in” or “iLink” or “FW”, etc.

And make sure you have the deck set to “Remote” control.

Take a look.

Lay the sweetened audio track back synced onto a duplicate copy of your edited FCP timeline.

Then export the whole timeline (Audio & Video) at once as a QuickTime movie.

Then burn that.

I just did at test with FCP HD 4.5.

If you set the device control to “FW NTSC” and just hit Now (Capture Now), the TC comes streaming in with the Audio and Video.

If you set the device control to “Non-Controllable Device” and just hit Now (Capture Now), the TC is ignored and FCP substitutes its own starting at 00:00:00 (which it would not HAVE to do).

For instance, if you are playing a source that does not HAVE a “control” but DOES send TC, such as “SimpleVideoOut”

FCP could easily record that TC, but it doesn’t.

There could have been another FCP preset provided for Non-controllable FW device for “TC” or “No TC.”

I don’t know why, Tom, you can’t get FCP to “capture now” (FW NTSC preset) from your camera, but I’d try another couple of cameras to make sure its not just something odd with the camera you tried first.

First, just as information:

I don’t use the earphone jack on my PD150.

I have a small battery-operated headphone amp that I plug into the RCA audio outputs on the camera and then plug my headphones into this little amp.

The amp is much more powerful than the PD150’s weak internal headphone amp… I can hear everything so much better using the portable headphone amp.

Now, to your wireless mic’s problem.

Could be ANYTHING.
You must perform all types of tests with it to see under which conditions (distance, motion, battery strength, antenna position, etc.) the problem occurs.

It appears to be unrelated to anything that you can correct with placement, batteries, etc. then (like your PD150) it needs a trip to the electronics hospital.

Try “logging out” and then log right back in again.

[dog food] “I was unable to monitor my audio while I was recording because the mic jack on my PD-150 broke during the begining of the shoot. I am concerned that I may not even be able to hear the popping with my recently repaired mic jack…
