Did you ADD any RAM to the machine?
Have you run the program called Rember to check your RAM sticks?

You can download the app and give it a go.
I found I had some bad sticks that were causing crashing and other odd problems.

In STUDIO situations, the cameras are fed to the control room and the signal is recorded to a VCR.
On REMOTE/LOCATION situations, the camera is fed to a portable VCR carried along with the camera and a tape is recorded in the VCR.

Yes .
I have done that with multiple cameras in couple of venues.
Just sent composite from several cameras placed around a stage up the audio snake to the
control booth and switched the show from there.The run was about 100 feet from each camera.
I did not have any “s-video” adapters that would go from S to XLR, so I just used composite,
but I imagine sending S via the two conductors in the balanced cable would have worked, too.Necessity is a mother!

The DVD is many times better quality than the VHS will ever be.
The VHS dub will not be any better made from the timeline.

The Freeze Frame will work.
Make sure the Freeze Frame you use matches the frame where the video begins to move. -

On Final Cut’s Timeline:
Mark an IN-point at the first frame of the program and an OUT-point after the last frame of the program.
The “duration” shown will be the exact program length.
DF and NDF TC have no effect on the program length.
They are simply a “counting system.” -
