May 15, 2007 at 11:36 am in reply to: Saving effects – how to?Save the PROJECT with the effect(s) in it and give them a copy of the project.
You can even drag the “Favorites” Effects folder into the Browser and it will be saved in the project.
You can easily create a project that is just for saving custom effects (drag each new effect to that project’s Browser, then save that project.

May 11, 2007 at 11:56 am in reply to: Failed to deliver a project on timeWe can all GUESS at what happened for weeks and still miss answering your question.
Please tell us:
1) The name of your software (I really find it odd that you specifically DIDN’T.)
2) What EXACTLY it did not do that caused you to not deliver.
3) Whom you called (or emailed) for help when it stopped working.
4) How the client reacted to the lack of performance.
The penalty for missing a deadline can run from,
“Oh well, better luck next time,” to “that’s the last time we trust you,” to “see you in court, better get a good lawyer!”Without the SPECIFICS of your situation, we can only speculate.

May 10, 2007 at 10:19 pm in reply to: Capturing audio from a dat into FCPYou can do it that way.
If your DAT and Mac have optical ins and outs, you can simply capture to a file on the Mac and import the AIFF’s into FCP.
Another good way is to record the DAT to a DV or other digital tape (that your system can handle) and then capture the tape (and keep it as another master.)
You will THEN have a tape with TIMECODE that can be re-captured in the future.

May 10, 2007 at 10:13 pm in reply to: Best Compression for Youtube[Thomas] “You can still fit 30min videos on youtube. There’s always a way.
I’ve even seen 1 hour videos.”That must be done at the “Director” level.
The quality for “Director” level videos is much higher as well.Under 10 minute clips are free to post.

April 3, 2007 at 10:20 am in reply to: Capture and Logging problemThe first thing to always try is to Quit FCP, Restart the Mac, Open your FCP project and try again.
Next:
THE FOLLOWING COMES FROM THE KEN STONE WEBSITE:
“Over 5,000 years ago Confucius wrote: ‘If you are toiling away, you have changed nothing and FCP heads South on you, [starts behaving in strange ways] then it is time to trash your FCP Preferences.’ ”Click the following link for instructions.
https://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/trashing_fcp_prefs.html
A great way to do this is to use “FCP Rescue” a free Apple Script that will Trash the Preferences for you (and restore nearly all of your user settings afterward).
There are versions for FCP (Pro) & FCE (Express).Download these free Apple Scripts at
