BTW, if you just listen to your WAV files, on the first one you don’t ever SAY which mic is in which channel. I could not figure what you were trying to DO.

After I listened to the second file, I had a better understanding of the comparison technique (I think).

But just to cut back on these 5-word back and forth Q & A’s… (which now have taken several hours to complete, with no end in sight.)

Why don’t you just come out and SAY what you think of these mics, unless there is some reason you don’t want to. (you could just say THAT as well.)

1. Select the first “wrong” entry info in the Browser column
2. Make the correction on that first “wrong” one.
3. highlight and “copy” (Apple-c) THAT one,
4. highlight all of the “wrong” ones (individually or in groups) in that column and hit “paste” (Apple-v).

It will save you lots of time if you will first use the Search Posts feature on the COW.

The Sanken CM-1 (is that the one your’re comparing to) is not exactly a “low-cost” mic.

One of its functions is to help you copy and move clips and projects.

I’ll bet they have a “slash” ( / ) in the title and/or some other “not allowed” file name character(s).

For some reason you can name some files with these characters “directly” in some software, but the Mac won’t allow you to make changes or copy them later.

Did you use FCP’s “Media Manager” to help you make your copy of the clips?

To directly answer THIS question:

Just put any clip (good to include some additional “handle” footage) on a new timeline and
File (menu) Export > QuickTime Movie > (Check) “Make Self-contained” > Save

This will render (“video mixdown”) an completely new clip based on your exported timeline.
You can now do anything you want with that new clip.

You need to have the AUTO SELECT icon ON for the track(s) you wish to cut.
They are the “square in the cross” icons just to the right of the little track-lock padlock icons.
