I got this clip and want to use the time remap tool to use variable speed. The master clip is 30min long….I digitized it as a long clip. When I use the time remap tool under the motions tab, the graphic shows the entire clip (30min). It’s very difficult to use the graphic time remap tool when the range is 30min and all I want is to use variable speed on the first 20sec.
Is there a way so that the graph only shows the 20sec in the graphic time remap tool? In avid I would do a video mixdown so that I have a new master clip that’s only 20sec. Has FCP something that does the same thing?

    Thanks,

    To directly answer THIS question:

Just put any clip (good to include some additional “handle” footage) on a new timeline and
File (menu) Export > QuickTime Movie > (Check) “Make Self-contained” > Save

This will render (“video mixdown”) an completely new clip based on your exported timeline.
You can now do anything you want with that new clip.
