As you have discovered, chroma-key is not the proper way to create this kind of effect.
(Just because you can “key-out” the BLUE, that does not allow the “blue-person” to become INVISIBLE… it just means you can REPLACE the blue area with some other video… which you don’t HAVE.)This would be better handled by just shooting the guitar strings area in CU and using
a high-pressure AIR NOZZLE blowing the strings.With careful timing and “finesse”, the strings can be made to vibrate in sync with the audio track.
There are many other ways (like framing so a person strums the upper strings from just off-camera) or… use your own imagination.

Trevor’s method is a good one, but adding the matte to the ENTIRE edit and rendering can take a bit of TIME and disk-space.
If you ONLY need to do this to a few images (the rest of the sequence ios OK, as-is) then…
Simply add another Video track above the clip(s) on your timeline.
On that track, edit the “Slug” and mask out the center area to the 16×9 aspect/position you want (with Mask Shape > Rectangle > Invert).This will allow an easier way to “slide” the image around (you’d actually move the clip itself with the Motion tab) and the mask will just sit, positioned properly, on the track above.

The FW signal is IDENTICAL to the tape output so THAT method will yield no improvement at all.
This “live capture” idea has been much-discussed here and on other boards.
The only way to capture an “uncompressed” (or LESS compressed) output
from a DV camcorder is to connect the ANALOG (S-Video) outputs to a capture card and capture at a “better” codec than DV.So yes, DVCPro50 is about “twice as good” (half the compression) as DV, DVCam or DVCPro.
BUT it has also been much-discussed that many DV camcorders MAY or may NOT give you an “uncompressed” output even on the analog output.
The trick is… finding out (for sure) if a given camcorder will or won’t work well with this scheme.
If you are attempting a green-screen or similar effect in FCP, it has generally been discussed that if you where to simply capture, EVEN FROM THE DV TAPE, in 8-bit or 10-bit, that the system will “key” better at those codecs.

I don’t see how the “registration” can be as a result on anything past the PSD.
If it WAS… ALL of the similar colors would float out of reg. in the image (not just that one item).
From here, my suggestion is to go back to Photoshop and make sure your image is in reg. and then export a single layer document (say, a PICT) and use that in your LiveType.
The other “flicker” issue seems to be a standard motion artifact.
If you don’t like the results, you might make the logo move in and out in a different WAY.
Such as a ZOOM in/out, or a FLASH-FRAME, or a ROTATION with ZOOM (OK, that’s a little too BATMAN-like) or even a dissolve.

Copy and paste like in any Mac program.
Just use the same fonts.
You can find hundreds (thousands?) of fonts on Google.
You can also use Belle-nuit or Digital Heaven Subtitle software.

I was beginning to think that I was the last person on the planet who thought a CABLE was still the lowest-noise, lowest-cost, most-reliable way to connect a mic.
You can save HUNDREDS of dollars by not buying (and fighting with) wireless gear… and get a MUCH better-sounding mic with the savings.

OK, I just took Picture 2 into Photoshop and applied the Filter: Video > De-Interlace.
It got rid of the flicker of the motion and allowed me to see where the gold color of the logo “ring” is riding above the rest of the image.
It looks like that layer of color is out of “registration”with the rest of the image.
If this is the “color bleeding” you’re talking about, then it looks like you have a faulty imported image (or the wrong KIND of image.)How was this image created?
What kind of image is it? (.psd, .pct, .tif)
How was it imported into FCP? -

I still do not understand what you are doing with these images.
If they are MOVING, they will always “flicker” in the paused still-frame.
If they are NOT moving, they should NOT “flicker” in the paused still-frame.
If they are on the key-frame NEXT to the key-frame when they BEGIN to move, they will always “flicker” in the paused still-frame.
As to “color bleeding” I simply do not see any of what I call “bleeding” in either picture.
My suggestion is to try this:
Do not animate the logo on this experiment.
Place a new still-frame of the logo-frame “static” (just “sitting”) on the timeline and see if it “flickers”.
If its OK, then we know its the motion that’s causing what you see as a problem.
You could then choose to do a different KIND of motion for the logo (sideways, a zoom-OUT, or anything other than a full-screen vertical motion).
Then, see if you like that better.
And please post back here with further results.

This looks like a NORMAL still-frame taken from a video when something is in motion.
Is this image NOT moving at this point?
