A. I don’t think I quite understand what you are wanting to do.
B. If I DID, I don’t know how I could tell you IN PRINT how to go about it.
I’d say, your best hope is to find a local audio PRO with pro gear, and explain to the PRO what you need.
With a little experimentation THAT YOU CAN HEAR… together you both can create the SOUND QUALITY you’re looking (listening) for.

Do you have your capture set for “Super-White”?
That allows the footage from the camera to be captured with white-levels above “100%”.
You can always add a Color Corrector filter to your clip and lower the overall video level to match your white background.

In Britain they use a 30 second countdown (I can’t imagine WHY, you would never need to “cue-up” a tape thirty seconds ahead of the program.)
In the USA traditionally you only use a 10 sec. academy leader countdown, as Frank described.
A 7 to 10 sec. pre-roll used to be REQUIRED when rolling in a video tape (2″ wide tape). Now, tape can be on a virtual “zero-time” dead-roll, so even the 10 sec. countdown is unnecessary.
I noticed you did not mention a SLATE in your list.
You do need a slate that tells the name, length, audio format, etc. of the spot or program.
Many times the slate info is keyed over the countdown leader (or the coundown is squeezed into a box next to the slate info.)
No real RULES for this.

How/where did you put the mask ON the clip?

Is your Canvas screen on the computer sized to “Fit to Window”?
This is assuming its POSSIBLE to play HD in realtime via this card.

The first thing to always try is to Quit FCP, Restart the Mac, Open your FCP project and try again.
The next step might be to trash your Render Files for this project.

A great way to do this is to use “FCP Rescue” a free Apple Script that will Trash the Preferences for you (and restore nearly all of your user settings afterward).

Just use FIND (Apple-f) and search for “Capture Scratch”.
There may be several of these, but FCP always captures to a Capture Scratch folder.

What Mac? -
ALL fonts for ALL your Mac programs can go into the Mac’s regular font folder (FCP does not have to be “told” where they are) they show up in FCP the next time you open the program.
