  • Locating All FCP clips on a Drive

Posted by Neil Sinclair on January 18, 2006 at 5:35 pm

Can anyone suggest a way of viewing all clips on a drive (or drives)that were
captured in FCP regardless of which project they were captured in.

I am guessing that Spotlight may be the answer but I just can’t
    nail it down.

    Thanks

Just use FIND (Apple-f) and search for “Capture Scratch”.

There may be several of these, but FCP always captures to a Capture Scratch folder.

Use Media Manager for each project and, using the move function, have all of the media for each project move to a specific directory of your choosing. Once you’ve done that on all projects your job of finding things will be much easier.

Never ever set a folder for FCP to capture to and all of your media will reside in one Capture Scratch folder.

When you set your Scratch Disk, simply select the Drive, NOT a folder. FCP will create a Capture Scratch Folder on that drive and the will create a new folder for each and every project in that ONE folder. So if you want to find media, simply open that one folder and there you go.
