23.976 fps has a framerate of ?
Now, that is displayed as 24, as there are no fractional numbers in frames.
So, after one second, the TC says 24, where in fact it should say 23.976.
Here is the source of the drift, it’s 0.1 % off.
For this very reason drop frame was invented, to stay in sync with the ‘time on the wall’
That does not exists in 23.976.

If you work on image sequences, that indicates a high end workflow.
You seem to be totally clueless.

This is quite easy.
If the image sequence carry the same TC as the AV files, you can extract BWF audio from the AV and have audio with TC. (Actually, broadcast Wave has no tc, but a timestamp in samples that can be calculated to TC.)

My QTchange app. can do this for you, but is a bit old, and limited to two channels.
If you want more, let me know and I can make something custom.

Now, if the AV files are no longer available, but there is ‘something’ that matches the image sequence to the audio, it’s also possible to ‘upgrade’ Wave files to BWF.

So, what exactly do you have now?

ProRes CAN be made on PC.
If you use Adobe stuff, it’s a simple plugin that catches the uncompressed video down the pipeline, and uses FFmpeg to output ProRes.

If you use Avid, you can render to an inbetween and transcode to ProRes with FFmpeg.

ProRes as input is supported by close to all PC NLE’s afaik.

First, please name 25i not 50i. It’s Frames and Progressive or Interlaced.
(I know you’re not the only one doing this….)

For two fields from different shots in one frame, that’s how VHS worked, remember ?
It’s not an issue, except indeed if you want to re-cut the stuff and want all shots at full length.

Now, you could avoid this to cut just on even frames.
Or, (would be my option) work on an NLE that takes care of the FPS conversion shot based. (So you switch the NLE settings to 50p or 25i for different outputs.)

If the footage is interlaced, and is interpreted as progressive, horrible things can happen.
(Also on scaling footage.)

So, I second the ‘yes, you need to interpret.’

Well, it’s fairly easy to get the metadata out using Exif tool.
But then you have a XMP file per clip, that is very similar to XML
