Not yet, but i could make it (partly) so.
I have not much experience with Mp4. If it is Sony stuff, the TC is probably in the XML (as well as in the file itself).
However, setting it is a different thing. (In the XML is of course no problem, but setting it in the file itself is a bit more work.)
But the biggest problem is the Reelname. No idea how that works with Mp4.
(Nor with MXF / DPX / Cineon, as i also want to support. TC is easy, Reelname is not…)If i can find that one out (feel free to help), i could add the functionality. Renaming the files is of course no problem, but that might cause other trouble if the file is part of a complex folder structure.
So it really depends on a lot of factors.
Exporting the Mp4’s to fresh QT (refs) for FCP to relink is probably the easiest way then.Bouke

Do make a few copies of your project.
Besides filename / location / TC / Reel, FCP also has a ‘memory’
for clips (that can help you or bite you, depending on what you are trying to do)hth,

You don’t want a VU meter, you want a calibrated, compensated Peak meter.
Buy a hardware solution (with correlation, starts at 2K USD, we prefer RTW as industry standard over here)

I don’t get it.
Re-creating the THM by renaming another one does not help you.
The time information will be the same on each clip!(check the TC in QT player…)
Now, FCP has a memory for file attributes. So it ‘may’ be that it will defeat the wrong TC and use the TC that it has stored in the project.
(But that is something you cannot control!)Converting the H264 can be done with QT and AppleScript, no need to pay for it.
As for the FCP plugin / THM combo:
It is inaccurate, as it only uses seconds, not the partial seconds stored in the THM.
This time info is EXACTLY the same as the file modification time.
You can try QTchange to see if it will set the timestamp if you choose to add TC and use ‘use shoot time’, and UNCHECK the ‘use thm’ option.https://www.videotoolshed.com/product/42/qtchange
Now i have no idea about your reelnames, but QTchange can do that too.
Nevertheless, make a backup or two of your program, as said earlier, there is ‘hidden’ clip info in it that might save your butt.
Needless to say you are in for a good day of cursing….

I have tested the Fast track Pro (and commented in this forum),
and in my optinion, it sucks big time.
The output levels are very low, but worse, the gain pot meters are NOT lineair, meaning you have just a few degrees between way too soft and full power.
This alone makes it a useless piece of crap. Not sure if that is the same on the regular fast track, but do test before you buy.I now have a Steinberg CI 2 and that perfoms normal.
(for a cheap piece of equipment)But if you really want something good, spend 3 times more money and get this:

First question:
Do you HAVE a NTSC digibeta deck?
(I have a feeling you do not..)And why would you shoot progressive for an interlaced format?
It will NOT look better, and it is NOT industry standard.Just shoot plain SD NTSC, edit in NTSC and take the project to a post house to make the dub.
