I highly doubt the sample rate conversion is playing tricks on you.
My take is you get bitten by the way time is stored in BWF.
It is NOT stored as timecode, but as ‘samples after midnight’
This means that the framerate dictates the outcome of the math, thus showing you a different timecode.The audio TC however is locked to the video. I don’t think Avid is able to ‘hear’ the difference between 23.976 and 24, nor do i think it will do anything with it. It just decodes and stamps the files with what it hears.
Avid is capable of altering the BWF timestamp on import. (You get a dialoge box asking you how to interpret the speed.) But, there can be a bit of metadata in the BWF files that dictates Avid to not show that option (force ‘correct’ intepretation, in your case, force to do it wrong). Thus, this might bite you.
But to really know for sure i would need both found timecodes that ‘should’ match, and from there i can do some math on what is exactly wrong.
It is all fixable, but first to find out what goes wrong where…Bouke

Oh joy, QTchange is able to create this kind of timecode.
And i never knew it would stick on an export!Sorry for the OP that it caused trouble, but nice to make offline viewing copies, so you discovered an undocumented feature!
Btw, QTchange is also able to remove the text track, and if it is just a few clips, the free demo will do just fine.

Bitrate, bitdepth, sample rate are all not important.
What is important is how you set up FCP.
Normally with 25 FPS there are no problems, but if you have switched a couple of times you could have messed something up.
Not your fault, FCP sucks in that department.Quit FCP, start a new project with an easy setup and try again.
Do rename files you already tried, as FCP ‘remembers’ the file and will apply the same mistake. Nice eh?Another option is to transcode the files to QT (sound only MOV)
No quality loss, but less chances for this kind of madness.Last but not least, why on earth did you convert from Wave to AIFF?
The content is exactly the same, and FCP likes WAVE as good/bad as AIFF.Bouke

Not in the mood to read the entire shebang, but a few things:
I’ve heard before about BWF wrong timestamps when using a ‘preroll’ function (record before hitting the button).
Be afraid, test.AFAIK, SD can make Mp3’s with timestamps (as TC) in the metadata.
But you can also do it afterwards on the files recorded.

You can’t do it straight out of the box, but there is a hack.
Export your clip without the key applied, (remove the effect on a copy of the sequence)
Then, switch the effect to show alpha.
Export that also (same in/out points)Then, go into AE, select both and set the bw as track matte, export your comp with alpha.
