I am using XDCAM for the first time (Usually use P2) and the Video was shot 1080i60 (50Mb/s). I used the XD Cam Transfer and everything seemed fine, but I have noticed in FCP that the Frame Rate is 29.97, not 59.94. Anyone know what’s up? Also, the video has some aliasing? Is there something I can do for that? The footage was shot in Drop Frame.

    Thanks!

    Make a study about ‘interlace’
(and yes, that will set you back a couple of days before you understood everything. Short story, your material is fine, you are in for a lot of problems unless you catch up with modern technologie. And with that i mean technology that goes back some 80 years.)

    Start here:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interlaced_video

And don’t post any questions before you have read it all.

[carlton hathcoat] “I have noticed in FCP that the Frame Rate is 29.97, not 59.94. “

Bouke is pointing you to a good start but just to help you get there, 59.94 is a number representing ‘fields’. There are 2 fields per frame so that equates to . . . yep, you guessed it; 29.97 frames.

Don’t get confused with camera’s that can shoot ‘off speed’ eg 60 FRAMES per second.
