I don’t have an answer for you, and i’ve never worked with XDcam at 100 Mbits.
I do know however 100 Mbits MXF from Ikegami don’t work either, so perhaps it’s something inside Avid that is messed up at 100 Mbits (this is a HUGE uneducated guess though!)You could try importing while transcoding to DNxHD, perhaps that will work.
To solve my problems, i’ve made something to transcode them to DNxHD avid MXF outside Avid.
That works swell for me. I could perhaps make it compatible with XDcam, but i never seen the stuff…Bouke

Get (buy / rent) yourself a HVR-1500, it has SDI with embedded audio, and 422 control. So you can capture to DNxHD, will be easier to work with anyways (at the cost of more data, but that is cheap…)
FW with machine control is a headache. If you don’t have anything better, ingest entire tapes without machine control and forget about TC breaks, just make a good backup of the ingested material.

Few options in software:
A software LTC reader that can paste the timecode in a document:
https://www.videotoolshed.com/product/8/ltc-reader/3and an older one with more logging capabilities:
https://www.videotoolshed.com/product/6/ltc-logger/3(Both could be updated and customized to your needs)

Ben,
Beside that, Subbits comes with great support (by me 🙂Small warning, i learned last week about a TC bug with Avid generated QT’s.
Have worked that out, hope to put an update on my site later today.
So watch out for that!Bouke

are you ingesting the sound over SDI as well?
If all fails, you can use QTchange to do an audio offset on the ingested clips. Not as it should be, but it will get you there…

January 8, 2012 at 4:44 pm in reply to: Link to AMA .R3D transcoded footage has no audio! On normal ‘high end’ shoots, wavs DO have timecode.
(then they are called BWF, broadcast Wave, but the extension is still .wav)
Avid will find the TC if it is there. Did you already import the Waves?
If there is indeed no timecode, you can fallback on creation time. That will bring you close…Or, use QTchange to export the original files (if there are QT’s) to BWF, sync them in Avid and you have your guide track.

January 8, 2012 at 2:42 pm in reply to: Link to AMA .R3D transcoded footage has no audio!Even if the bwf’s are not jammed, you still may be able to do it if both cam and sound recorder were running in Freerun.
I’ve got an application here that accepts 2 (or 4) syncpoints and recalculates all others.
Mail me direct if you want to toy with it.Bouke
