What’s the reason to pick 60p over 30p? I’m struggling with what to chose?

I’d like to hear more. As I said – I inherited this system and all previous projects were converted to Pro Res. I’m new to working with P2. I assumed it captured the clips at a high quality, but smaller files and it was easier to edit.

I just inherited a FCP system running very slowly. Do you have any virus protection installed? Last editor had also installed Carbonite demo which created a big slow mess until we did a fun uninstall. Look to any programs that “run in the background”.

Yes. Pro Res 422. Running latest version of FCP (7.1.6 I think) on Mac Pro – Snow Leopard. As I said – it worked a few weeks ago. We have had numerous drive problems to troubleshoot lately, but with the problem external drives gone it still refuses to log & transfer any codec except AVC.

P2 card was copied into one folder. I load the folder in Log & Transfer and it still wants to import each partial span separately. FCP 7.1.

No. But I’ve done work with a company that is sort of close by & they do. Also the upgrade promos look good right now, so maybe I’ll consider it.

I totally agree with Walter. Media 100 had this problem solved 10 years ago. Why is it still a problem with FCP? Same thing with needing to import AIFF audio. Media 100 accepted mp3’s – no problem. Just these two little changes would solve my upgrade desires.

Go to your canvas – the top 3 buttons. Button on the right – pull down – make sure “overlays” is ON.
