Hi Mike –
Thanks will try it. But still curious why it does it. Especially since the picture looks fine in Vegas but changes once it is rendered and then put in the menu of DVD Architecture.
Also, I have noticed that there is some shimmering – with the rendered video – with lines and lettering – like rolling credits. How do I get rid of the shimmering? Might that be associated with the same problem with the staircase edged problem?
Again – thanks –

Hi –
Thanks – I just tried it and I don’t see anything on the tape. Boy am I feeling not only frustrated but dumb. I am not really technologically illiterate but sure feel that way. Vegas is so powerful but has so many options and choices that it can be overwhelming.

Hi Mike –
Which format do I use for rendering.
I did use MPG2 and then sent it to the camcorder but nothing shows when I play it thru the HDTV.

Hi Mary –
I should be able to print it to tape (I have Vegas 8 Platinum) but can’t find out how unless I render it which I don’t want to do. I don’t have a laptop.
Thanks –

Hi Terry –
It is a tape based camcorder. Not sure what PTT is. I have 2 Vegas tutorials and have not found out how to do it in either one of them. I can burn a DVD but I want HD and I thought the only way to do that is to put my edited video back on the camcorder tape and play in thru the HD connector cable.
Thanks –

Hi Douglas –
You must be quite the HDV & DV guru – seen you referred to on other Video Discussion Boards.
I have been working hard to understand what the problem is – I have installed Vegas Movie Studio 8 Platinum, and Movie Studio 8. I get a different error for those two. I now see that you are using 8 and not 8 platinum because for 8 I do see the same toolbar you have.
For 8 Platinum I can control the camera but don’t see any video
For 8 I can’t do anything – when I turn on the camera I get the following error message – The device “Microsoft AV/C Tape Subunit Device’ could not be opened

No I don’t seem to have the same toolbar as you. I do have Video Preview under View and it is checked.

Hi –
Thanks for the advice but there is no “Always Preview” in this version.
I have been able to view the video while in the capture mode using the DV mode and I can capture HD using Ulead. Needed to download the latest codecs and DirectX to make Ulead work.
I think that Ulead is now owned by Corel.
