Rendering pictures

Here’s a few things to try, all within Vegas.
If the image is large in (pixel) size, reduce it to project size.
Use “Reduce Interlace Flicker” on the image.
Apply a very light Gaussian blur (vertical only – set to 0.001) to it.

Hi Mike –

Thanks will try it. But still curious why it does it. Especially since the picture looks fine in Vegas but changes once it is rendered and then put in the menu of DVD Architecture.

Also, I have noticed that there is some shimmering – with the rendered video – with lines and lettering – like rolling credits. How do I get rid of the shimmering? Might that be associated with the same problem with the staircase edged problem?

if the text / lines are not broadcast safe, they can do that when viewed on a TV

make sure white and black are set to 235,235,235 and 16,16,16 in your RGB values, rather than 255,255,255 and 0,0,0.

or just apply a broadcast clamp to the output as a whole, though the normal video might not need it.

In addition to Adam’s broadcast safe colour recommendations, make sure you ‘re not using very fine text.
