  • Ummmm…. you lost me, sorry. What I’m saying is that the clips must have their interlacing properties changed before editing into the timeline in order for them to display properly – that the timeline settings alone aren’t enough to properly work with the clips. And there’s no method I can find for altering multiple clips’ properties (which could take a long time).

    Yea/nay?

  • I have to disagree Noah, and only because I watched it happen yesterday. I had some 480/30p clips, and saw some artifacting on hair that made me think “it shouldn’t look interlaced – this is progressive”. Checked clip properties, changed it to None. Realized I needed to overwrite the clip in the timeline with the changed master clip. Artifacting went away. This was without changing the timeline settings (progressive) and each time a render was done (had some small scaling/crop going on). So simply rendering it in a progressive timeline wasn’t enough – the master clip needed it’s attributes edited as well.

Unless I misunderstand whatchu ees sayin’.

Well, the reason I just discovered this is I’ve been shooting almost exclusively P2 ever since the HPX500 came out. (Plus the occasional DV.) Just needed to digz some BetaSP onto my fairly new MacPro Octo, went to AJA’s site, and *(#$^@#&$^@#&^$!!!!

Actually, I’d just edited my original post here, which was quite a lengthy FLAME on AJA for not working on SL drivers, but realized I should wait until I get an answer from AJA Cust Svc first (emailed them Friday night). Didn’t want to “open mouth, insert foot”. After searching here, it appears that Apple is in the “driver creation” loop for the IO. In that case, we’re screwed.

BUT, would this workaround be viable : install Leopard and FCP 5/6/7 on an external Firewire drive, boot off that, and digz away with the IO?

Stock mic that comes with the 1800 body pack, and an AT816 lav (just bought that one… compares favorably to my very old Senn MKE3… think it’s a bit more cardioid than the MKE3).

PrompterPeople Broadcast 17″. Had ours for years. You absolutely want mirrored glass prompter for “straight into the lens” reading. FORGET about anything off-axis, even a few inches.

It’s very old, but there’s probably a new equivalent for the mic I use & love: Sennheiser ME60. Supercardioid. Can pull it off, stick it on a boom pole & works as a fair shotgun as well. Phantom via the 500.
