I agree, and think it cuts harder emotionally than say, car fanatics or music gurus, because here we have a software company mucking about with the tool that we earn our livelihood with, not just a hobby or passion, though with almost all of us, it’s those things as well!

I agree about iMac & Thunderbolt. I am concerned along with the rest about making a professional bit of software “simpler” however. When it’s made less complex, it probably introduces limitations on the myriad ways it can be used to slice the bread. Professional editors CANNOT be forced to all make their bread the same way. We all have different needs, from subtle to wildly different. A limitation that I may care nothing about will totally bollux the editor sitting next to me. THIS is the hue & cry that is happening now. Well, I’m PO’d about STILL not being able to use the expensive processors & RAM in my MacPro to their fullest, but that’s another story. (Still meaning FCP7, which will now never use those assets.)

I pray that Apple is paying attention. I do not want to switch. I want to work faster.

But if they intend to take away tools that pay my mortgage, I will be on Premiere faster than soft cut.

I’ve thought about the “older format open” issue, and I think as long as FCP7 will run on OSxxx into the future, it’s not a drop-dead for me. BUT, if FCP7 won’t run on OS”KittyKat 2015″, yeah, that’s a non-starter.

Well, as the shot list is coming together, it’s leaning more towards orbits & tracks (with a couple of high speed tracks as well), with POV nose being in the (slight) minority. So, still looking like Middle mount.

VERY OPEN to tips & gotchas! I’m all ears!

Thanks John. I was aware that side angles, even crabbed, don’t give as good POV perspective as nose mounts, but from what I’ve read (correct me if I’m wrong), you need to move up to Wescam/Cineflex for stabilized nose shots. Out of the budget. Unless the Tyler nose mount would do it well?

Funny you should mention golf courses, as that’s on the shot list, also river, buildings, parks, lake… basically aerials of a city. So I was expecting to need a mix of orbits, some tracks, and POV. Was hoping that in the edit wouldn’t need shots of more than :10 or so, and the crabbed POV would suffice.

Im hoping to have 1st chat with the pilot within a few days.

Andy reminded me of what I already knew (but it seeped out of my leaky brain):

Put your FCP Browser window into List View then scroll across till you see the Field Dominance column … select all the clip you want to change in one go then right click on one of the selection and change it to the desired value … all the selected clips will change accordingly
