I use the MxR by eFilms although I would certainly consider replacing them with something else. I do have a couple of them that I don’t use any more because they seem a little squirrely.

Yes I did using this link:
Read the Read this stuff first because it is important.

Michael…I will give 12,000 reasons why I use SDHC cards instead of SxS. That is how much it would cost me to buy 2 32GB SxS cards for each of my 6 EX1r’s. I could buy 2 more cameras for that.

Chris I use the Transcend 32 GB Class 6 cards without incident. I have recorded thousands of clips on six different cameras. I also just bought Lexan Platinum II 32 GB Class 10 really cheap from B&H without any problems.
When I do have a problem loading a card I can trace it to the card adapter. I have a number of those I don’t use anymore. I know it is the adapter because when I put the SDHC card alone in a regular card reader it works fine.
You should consider upgrading to firmware 1.2. It has a number of upgrades the most useful to me being file name available on the display screen.

I think you are putting too much emphasis on how long a card takes to copy correctly using clip browser with CRC. It takes longer but it is still faster than realtime. If you are recording 113 minutes onto a 32GB card it will definitely be done copying before you are finished recording the next card. If you are using multiple cameras and recording more cards you could get a little backed up. I would buy more cards. They are VERY cheap.
I have Shotput but it is very confusing for my little brain. I really need to be able to copy a card and change it’s name one at a time. Especially if I am working on two or three different job numbers at the same time.
I bought a four-headed card reader (Medusa….just kidding) but that doesn’t work either. -
I am glad that you were able to get your files to work.
At the risk of piling on, I have to agree with Craig and Andy. I download 6 full SDHC cards worth of clips somedays. I use Clip Browser with the CRC on to transfer the files to my back-up hard drive. Clip Browser puts them in a randomly named folder which you can rename anything you want. This, in combination with proper camera metadata, makes it easy to search hundreds of files. It takes a bit longer but not nearly as long (or traumatic) as trying to find missing clips. For my purposes I then use XDCam Transfer to bring those files into Final Cut Server for my client access.
It is much easier, faster, cheaper(?) than tape. It is NOT the format.

I do all of my HD (I am assuming you are starting in HD) to WMV using the following settings…Export using QT conversion>format windows media>options two pass VBR>bit rate 1500 kbits/sec> size whatever you want just 16×9 or 4×3>advanced input interlaced> output must be progressive
I have had very good luck with this formula which someone here gave me. I have Flip4Mac HD or whichever is the most expensive.

Puneet…this is not the place to pick a camera. Go to a reputable dealer and try out all of the cameras that you you are interested in. Many dealers will let you borrow…or rent at a reduced rate, the cameras you are interested in. You have to shoot with them and ingest with them and edit with them to see if they fit your needs and your workflow.

If you are not here to insult, please leave. 😉

You might be able to rent the Matrox.
Also, I use the firewire DV out of my EX1r into my PC and use Microsoft Live Meeting. It sucks but it’s cheap.
