Why don’t use just use 2 32GB SDHC cards, shoot the whole thing and do whatever you want with it in the end?

My (bad) experience with WMM is that it is the least least flexible of all of the PC editing programs. You will probably need to import into FCP and export as WMV using Flip for Mac. If you want HD files you will need Flip for Mac HD which is more expensive. My advice would be to charge a lot because this will be a time consuming pain-in-the-ass.

    Hi Kelli,

I have 6 EX-1r’s which I use daily in low light situations using auto-focus all of the time. I shoot through two-way mirrors which drastically reduce the amount of light the camera gets. I have no problem achieving a crisp, in-focus picture with no undue effort. I would have to suggest that there is something wrong with that camera. If there is certified Sony dealer in your area I would bring it to them and have them look at it. They should not charge you since it is a warranteed camera but they may ridicule you for buying it from B&H (since everyone charges the same price for a Sony camera).

You should not be unhappy with the focus.

When it shows up as a hard drive on you r desktop you can’t just click on it like a regular file and change its name. I don’t have one here with me to check it.

If you re-format them in the camera does the name go away?

None of my six EX1r’s have that problem. I have problems with the HDMI cables being fragile and breaking easily but not the ports themselves. It seems as you need a repair.

I have six EX-1 and have not noticed this problem on any of them. I use a tripod handle remote zoom most of the time but also shoot without it. I tested the NX70U NXCAM and absolutely had problems with the zoom. It did not work correctly. I have not had the same problem with any EX1r. I REALLY find it hard to believe that anyone from Sony would tell you that the product was designed that way.

  • And it is certainly no different with an EX1r than with any other video camera.

Congratulations! Make sure you go through the workflow for whatever editing system you are using so that you fully understand how the cards work. That is the biggest frustration for users of this entirely new system.
