Try reading the manual (Chapter 7 – Overview of the Media Manager). It’s a good place to start.

From time to time, we all have problems with our gear. Sometimes it’s “pilot error,” sometimes it’s a faulty piece of equipment. That’s part of the business. The solution, however, is not to publicly slag one of the finest and longest-running companies in the business.

I’m still running a G4/KonaSD/DAMAX+ box after three years from purchase. Flawless.

I have no clue as to where your computing problem lies, but I would most certainly suggest that there are other ways of dealing with it.

As far as I know, the PhotoJPEG estimate has always been inaccurate and solely reflects 100% quality. I once digitized 40 hours of “offline” material at PhotoJPEG 35% for one project and with each tape I only used a fraction of the estimated disk allotment.

The only real problem comes when it thinks you don’t have enough space and won’t start a batch digitize. My workaround was just to keep enough free space that it thinks it needs.

I’m going to buy a handful of the Performance variant of an OCZ 1GB stick and see what happens ;]

Buy the new stuff in pairs, use the original 512 to stir coffee…

i got started on this kick because i just got a nifty dual 2.5 and i was looking at the tech specs of the ram it recommends in the manual.

you can get a MADE FOR APPLE 2gigs of ram or you can get something that meets apple’s own written specs for almost half the price. look closer and you see the latency is generally lower for the latter.

it seems like you can get cheaper, faster, equally reliable ram if you are not suckered into the DOES IT SAY APPLE ON THE BOX madness.
