Wendell,
I agree overall with your frustrations with PP audio. One thing I suggest though is, setting your camera audio tracks to mono, and using STANDARD type tracks in the sequence. This is the best of both worlds – the dual mono tracks are editable separately and true stereo tracks (music) can exist on the very same track but appear as stereo and don’t allow you to edit the channels separately.
You’ll also want to set your preferences so PP stops assuming the audio from your camera is stereo on import. You can change this after importing, but not after you’ve put the clips in the timeline.
Good luck,

I totally agree that you should have HD backup in addition to cloud. It’s a nice secondary thing to have in case your facility is robbed or something. I use a service called Crashplan, which seems to work fine. The initial backup takes a long time – I mean a LONG time! Several days likely. It churns away in the background, but once it’s done it’s just small incremental updates. I don’t backup apps, but I suppose you could. It’s nice to know you can access your files anywhere. Well worth doing.

January 11, 2013 at 11:05 pm in reply to: Why Doesn’t a Timeline Render Expedite Export Time?“Use Previews” has never worked for me. I’ve done lots of testing, applying all sorts of effects, gpu rendering on and off, lots of different codecs. “Match Sequence” selected with “use Previews” checked, makes no difference whatsoever to export times. I’m on PP 6.0.2 on a Mac. Does it work for you guys?

The modified date thing disturbs me as well. In preferences under “media” you can de-select write XMP data on import, which will stop premiere from messing with your media.

I really appreciate the help, guys.
Walter – please keep up the blog posts. They’re a great source of info for switchers like myself. I only wish I had read your “gotchas” post a long time ago! I’d like to buy you a beer next time I’m in Atlanta.

Thanks Guys, I really appreciate the response. I’ll try Walter’s suggestion.
All this crashing in the middle of a project is a bit nerve wracking, to say the least.

Yep, same thing here. Started my project this morning and had the same error (I also store my projects in a dropbox folder). I tried Water’s suggestion but got the same error. Fortunately, you can revert to previous saved versions via the dropbox website which saved me. Scared the beejezus out of me!
I won’t be storing my projects in a dropbox folder any longer!

Just had this problem again yesterday. I duplicated the keylight effect in the effect window, disabled the first one which resolved the issue (for now, anyway). It’s kind of a headache to constantly check renders but dynamic linking is still worth the trouble.

I had this problem as well on a specific project a while ago using Keylight in a dynamically linked AE.
I wonder what would happen if you switched to CPU rendering rather that GPU? Just a thought.

Did you ever get an answer to this? I’d love to know.
Thanks,
