Ignoring Vegas for the moment, does Windows Explorer behave the same way?

I doubt that this will help, but I use File -> Import -> Media. It works a lot like Windows Explorer. I can navigate to a directory by double clicking on it and it will show thumbnails of all the files. I can select any number of files just as in Windows Explorer, and then simply click the open button. All selected files then show up in Project Media.

Give us a lot more information. What is the format of the video? Have you successfully used that format before? Have there been any changes to the hardware and software on your computer? Tell us about the computer. What processor, how much memory, how many hard drives, how big are the drives, etc.

I don’t think you can. What you can do is to duplicate the layer that the negative mask would have revealed. Then create a mask on that layer that will reveal what the negative mask would have revealed, and position that layer so that the desired area will be superimposed on the image created by the original mask. To my mind, that would mean it is above the layer with the original, positive mask.

I duplicated what you described in SVP 12. I did not see the phenomenon that you describe. Do you have a transparent area in the png? I’m wondering if something like that could cause what you are seeing.

In your editing preferences, is the “time selection envelope fades” still checked?

My suspicion is that you have overwritten one or more Vegas codecs by installing one or more from “SourceForge”. You could try uninstalling Vegas, and reinstalling it again. If that doesn’t help, you may need a more complete uninstall of Vegas followed by a reinstall. That subject has been covered a few times recently, so I would search for those posts to learn how to do a thorough uninstall.

For the your first video, the best way that I know of is to use After Effects. This is one of the things it does very well. If there is another option, I would like to hear about it since After Effects has become part of Adobe’s ransom ware (pay your rental fee or all of your work goes up in smoke).
The answer is probably the same for the second video, but I’m not willing to watch 1.5 hours (I think I read that right) of video to see what you are talking about.

One way to fix it is to add more key frames. Obviously, one at the beginning and one at the end are not enough. It is hard to say how many are needed. You must simply keep adding more until you are satisfied that the line is staying reasonably close to where you want it to be with respect to the changing size and position of the keyboard in the video. After Effects, when trying to lock one object to another will create a very large number of key frames. Sometimes that is what it takes.
