Have you tried turning on the GPU? With a Quadro 4000, that may help a lot.

There is also a click and crackle remover in Vegas. Depending on the sound, sometimes an equalizer can also help to remove or soften the pop. After that, you will probably need to use something like Sound Forge or Izotope to do a really nice job of removing pops.

Did you have a loop region defined? There is a check box in the render screen that tells Vegas to render only the loop region. Depending on your version of Vegas, if the option is checked, and the loop region is very small or non-existant, the rendered output can be absent.

I’m not sure why you would “unsplit” when Graham’s solution works just fine. Am I missing something?

It looks like it is crashing with OpenCL. Try turning off the use of the GPU.

Have you tried the disable FX button? If it had no effect, I am out of ideas. However, if it did, then one last place to look for FX is the video bus. All video goes through the bus.

You have to watch the video to find the parts you want. The only difference between the timeline and the trimmer is that editing on the timeline is faster. You split in the middle of the unwanted section after creating markers, drag the two ends back to the markers, and drag the remaining video back to the end of the approved section. On top of that, if you ever change your mind about where the “cut” should be, all of the video is still available. If the “trimmer” trims it, you have only a second or two beyond the start and end point to recover a lost section.

It looks like it’s missing or having problems with a sound card driver. Have you ever installed asio4all? If not, it may have been installed by the manufacturer. My system has several ASIOs of various flavors which were installed with the mother board. If you cannot find it, you may need to restore the system from a backup.

I think the trimmer window is obsolete. The story I’ve heard is it was included for the benefit of people coming from a prior generation of editing who learned to edit on tape machines. It is not needed in an NLE editor. I use it only for a quick check of what is on a clip, and as a second viewer for media that I am working with. I do all my “trimming” directly on the time line which, IMHO, is better suited for that task.
