I, too, had this problem. It seems as though if the updates are paused then ALL updates are paused. About 3 days after uninstalling that troublesome update, MS installed it again and caused the same problems all over again. But the good news is that Magix has released an update to VegasPro 17 (Build 455) that fixes everything. Grazie – Thank you. I updated QT from version 7.6 to the last released version for Windows (7.9). I will change the Alpha option and try again. I will let you know how it goes.

Thank you for perseverance in this. Hopefully this is helping Roger also. I am away from my ‘real’ computer for a couple of days but will let you know what I find. Not too sure how to update quicktime. I was under the impression that Apple had discontinued it for Windows. I am sure this is an old version.

Thank you Edward. The “mediainfo” properties identified the file name as …particleillusion.mov, and the format as .mp4, while the format profile is Quicktime. So I am a little confused.

    Roger,
I am heading towards 76 and it doesn’t get any easier….. I, too, am using Win10/VegasPro17(lastest build)/and the free stand-alone of pI, and I have the same problem as you seem to be having. I have closely followed this thread and have tried the things that were suggested but cannot get a particle with an alpha background. I have tried .mov and .mp4 as rendered formats and no matter what choice I select for the ‘Media Properties’ under ‘Alpha’, I still get a black background. What I have done, however, is add Chroma Key Fx and adjust the thresholds. It works – kinda. But have no worries that you are alone in this dilemma, there are at least two of us!

August 6, 2020 at 7:28 pm in reply to: vegas 17 time lapse render speeds

You might want to ask this question on https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/vegas-pro-forum/

I thought at one time someone had written a script the would remove a certain number of frames over a period of time and that would allow a time lapse type render. I know I didn’t explain this very well, but inquire as to the existence or availability of a script that would allow the creation of a time lapse. Good luck.
