I have been shooting 30p and rendering to DVD as progressive without issues. I use Vegas 8 Pro and DVD-lab. I’ll try some test renders and see what looks better.

One thing about progressive. I had a client complain about the motion blur. Another thing, they think the DVD should look better than SD because it was shot on HD. Nope.

Under “view” make sure you have media generators checked.

Has anyone determined the best HD settings to shoot with if you are primarily delivering a SD DVD? The image will be rescaled to 720×480.
    Thanks.

Thank you for your reply. I think you are right. Luckily, the accent marks came in as they should or I would have been in big trouble. The French symbols for trademark and registered di not. Lucky, the Spanish was the same as English. I have not been able to get the hang of the Pro Type Titler. I come from using Inscriber CG and that Sony titler is not friendly to me. I wound up doing the second workaround you mentioned. Yes, it was very tedious! Thanks for the info!

Thanks for your reply. I think I may have one of two problems. Either too many instances of media generator text on the timeline or maybe a corrupt clip. Vegas is causing memory access crashes. I get error 0xC0000005. This is a known problem with Vegas, but I have not been able to find a good answer to it. Thanks for your input.

Hello Brandon. I’m using Win XP Media Center. I tried adding a profile to see if that helped, but it didn’t. I need to find a work around on this. Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestions. I reset the titler and did a prerender of that area. The roll looks pretty smooth now, but it looks soft.
I’m rendering HD footage to a SD DVD. On the computer it looks good, but the roll on a 40″ HD screen looks kind of blurry. Maybe it’s a interlaced DVD player playing a progressive DVD that is causing that?

    Thanks.
