  • The final delivery is a rear projection screen in a church sanctuary. All the videos they use are SD. I may just have to do some test to see what ends up looking the best on their system… extra work. Awesome!

Hahaha… i was thinking that would be the answer. The project I am working on is a combination HD/SD project in that we have 16×9 SD footage and P2 (DVCProHD) footage. We shot the HD in 1080i so everything is interlaced.

Should I export my Quicktime (DV / ProRes) files from Media 100 as progressive? Would that help with the new HD monitors?

I put an S-Video cable from my DVD player and the quality of the picture and graphics actually look better than the component or HDMI on a newer HD TV.

    Thanks

    Thanks Floh,

I know this has been addressed before, but when I export my programs and ultimately put them to DVD, I experience a lot of alias on text and graphics. Is it just the nature of the HD TVs not reproducing the
graphics well or is there a trick in the compression I should be aware of?

Thanks again for you help. You are saving so many of us from a ton of headaches.

I do the ProRes HQ. Ive used it and pretty much all the codecs available including uncompressed. They all have a similar effect.

I uploaded a clip to Media100. I have been working with Jon in technical support. The clip was large but I can give you the ftp site I used to upload and I will give you the link. Send me an email and I will give you the link to download.

I think I will check on the current download of the DVC Pro HD codec. However, this is on a brand new MacPro and I just installed the New Media100 suite 2.01. I can’t imagine that being an old codec.

I check the shutter and it is off. No shutter issue.

I just played the footage for the first time on a monitor from the Media 100 via 1080p via the HD Component output. The footage on this monitor shows no sign of my problem. I only show up on my computer screen.

    Thanks for the input.

That’s discouraging. Just spent a bundle for improved “Full HD” quality… as advertised.

Have you ever tried outputting through SDI to your editor? I was considering digitizing the footage via SDI rather than transferring it via the USB P2 transfer.

Any other work arounds other than the practical “watching my pans and such”?

I read every review out about this camera and for the most part… they just loved the camera.

Apparently the camera plays the footage very well… at least on the camera monitor.

    Thanks for the input.

I will check that thanks. My camera operator may have ininvertantly turned it on. He is new to the camera as well If so, what can be done about the footage I have shot? Is there a work around that can compensate for that?

Thanks for the input guys. I think I was hoping for a miracle. The camera shut down
during a shoot and has never powered back up. I’ve done most of what you suggested.
I am leaning toward the bad circuitry. I agree the “stand by” button is a pain on it’s placement.

I’ve had this camera since 2000 and it has served me well. I was really just wanting to get it
running so I can use is for personal stuff… got 4 kids doing “you name it”.

    Thanks

I am running on 11.5.1 Am I going to have to move up into the Intel based system? I was told by Media 100 that was not necessary when I bought this system a couple of years ago.

I must confess, I am just getting my feet wet with the HD side of the media 100. I have an HDe suite and I can see the footage playing on my computer screen but have not gotten very promising results out to a monitor. I’ve gone through all the settings in the “video out” preferences. What I did get for a brief period of time had what looked like a field dominance problem.

I guess I need to ask if my system is ready for HD. I was told by Media100 when I bought it that I was
(might have to upgrade my array though) I am running on a Mac G5 Quad 2.5 GHz. My footage is coming off an eSata array. I have only 3 gig of memory with an NVidia GeForce 6600.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
