What happens if you keep your sequence at 23.98 and export a native quicktime also at that setting, but then use compressor or cinema tools to add the pulldown? when it comes to any format conversion, compressor usually does a better job than an fcp quicktime conversion.
IF even after you try the above workflow you stil see the repeated fourth frame, double check that everything is indeed 23.98 the transfer, your sequences, and so on, as well as, just for giggles, making sure you are seeing both fields in your monitor. and not a single field, which may only be the 4th

I used to work on a tv show that would bring me conformed 16mm A and B rolls transfered to Videotape. Then they would bring in opticals that were supposed to be frame per frame as the original. this was before any 3:2 aware transfer technology, so I had to make freeze fields and all that to get it to work. what a pain!
long story short? get the 24 fps files! (23.97) and work at 24 until ready to export, then you can add the nexessary pulldown for 30 fps
did you say you were going to DVD? try a test at making a dvd at 24.

it sounds like you might have accidently done a Project Revert?
(although why it opened a project from 2 weeks ago is odd)If so just close the project, go into your Autosave vault, and open the one with the most recent date!
(You did have your Autosave on didnt you? At least once an hour?)
if you answered yes, try recovering the most recent version and see if you get the same error, if so try going one version earlier and so on. and you may want to upgrade to .3

this may be a bit tangent-ile, but I have noticed that a good third to half the questions posted here have to do with mixing or converting formats, and not actaully about issues with FCP ie how do i get 23.97 footage into a 29.97 timeline? can i mix 1080i and 720P? and so on.
I would welcome and enjoy a forum JUST on formats, with contributors from the Avid, FCP, and Premeire forums, just for starters.
I think it would also make sense to list or post or FAQ known issues and “gotchas” that one necounters with FCP, such as the way it treats slo-mo (which may not be an issue with some, but could be with others.)“I like video because its so fast!”

Thanx for the correction/revision!
I had thought the Kona TV TC out was just visual! So, even though its clip by clip, I can now take p2 files or wahtever, and make tape safetys w matching code!
the next best thing would be some kinda playlist, so all my clips get layed off autoamtically! (but maybe thats why god made interns!)

get a fast fw800 or esata hard drive or a small array (2 drives)
and ONLY use that. Capture your footage to it and save your project on it. Unplug it and carry it to the second room, or to a post house, or to a color session, or to an FCP editor in Bangalore.just copy the entire drive over at night so you have a backup
believe it or not, some fw 800 drives can handle 2 streams of DVCPROHD, not to mention ProRes

at this time FCP does not support generating TC out in any form,
whether its LTC, VITC, via an RS422 port or wahtever. which really bites.sooooo
you can “pre stripe” a tape with timecode that would match your clips
OR
you can skip tape entirely and move media around on hard drives which has become a standard mode of operation in a lot of cases.
(all the software peices are out there to generate audio LTC or RS422 LTC from a quicktime file, but nobody has put it together yet. And seeing has how the “Sneakernetting” of .5 and 1 tB hardrives has become the norm, i doubt if anyone will )

waht are you trying to do with it? I know outputting to it or trying to control the dvd burner was always iffy, but you shoud be able to capture DV via firewire, no?
