If you like DSLR try the Canon5D Mark II, plenty of lens , but, no automatic motor zoom. used them for over 2 years, stunning 1920 x 1080p video and stills, ISO range is very wide ?

I take it that means H.264mov 1920 x 1080p@25 fps from a Canon 5D mark II on the timeline in CS5 will loose quality unless you change it to say avi HD ?

I thought the “uncompressed files” would give better quality, it looks very good Export to Tape, and no shakey lines etc. on blu-ray or DVD

Try only the Image Stablized Lens and preferably the horizontal IS in the 70-200 mm F4 EF for panning.

You will need a good filming technique to get the best out of this camera and lens. Try the fish-eye for fun it is marvellous ?

Agree Brett,

Used Canon cameras for 30 years , this really is very, very, good, except the H.264 mov files , but, there is very high quality here.

All productions are broadcast and cinema quality
you will need a very good computer and Premiere Pro or similar .

Yes we usually transcode to microsoft avi 1440 x 1080 i, uncompressed then back into the timeline to final edit, it works ok , it would seem I do not need CS5 for what we do. maybe faster with our XEON Server ?

NOTE: THIS HAS PARTIALLY BEEN SOLVED BY RUNNING THE COMPUTER ON RESTRICTED START UP, I know I am asking too much of a 3 year old piece of software,but, from all reports the problem still exists with PE 9 ?

Hi Grzegorz,

I have been working using H.264 mov @ 1920x 1080p PAL from the 5D mark II for 2 years. I have never found a corrupt file from the 5D. However, I have tried Vegas 9 and they work Ok.ie., in a i7 Windows Professional Quad Core workstation using a Nvidia Quadro Fx 3800 video card with 12Gb RAM and 1.1 TB Hard Drive.Although they will work , all be it slowly, with a Dell Pentium 4, 3.2Gh 800 fsb with 2 Gb RAM.Ie., with hyper – threading.

We have not got SC5 Premiere Pro yet, and our work around is Import in say 30 clips of 1GB only into Premiere Elements 4,(this 3 year old software will handle H.264 mov files and also Export to Blu-Ray at H.264 or mpeg-2) Save>Render>Export to Movie as Microsoft AVi, uncompressed using it’s Media Encoder we save the file to Import into Premiere Pro as HDV/mpeg-2, avi to final edit , which makes it easier on the system. Note: the system uses about 11.8 Gb RAM to do this , so your computer would need to be up to it.
