[J Smith] “Are you aware that digitizing is not yet 100% frame accurate?”

I’m a prospective buyer of a Decklink, for PP.

Digitizing from an EDL is an important feature for me; are you saying that the Decklink is not capable of frame-accurate digitizing? Could you please describe the circumstances and details of deck control that aren’t working?

I was interested in your remark about using Edius Pro.

I’ve been trying to figure out which way to go next (as a veteran of the discreet edit* EOL). I’ve narrowed the candidates down (currently) to PP and Canopus/Edius.

I tried the Edius tryout, and found the UI utterly confounding. I’ve been spoiled, I realize, by the best interface in the field, but even accounting for that, I found Edius extremely strange. And I can’t seem to find any users in my area (Baltimore/Washington).

I’ve been thinking about Canopus SP for HDV hardware, which allegedly has some plug-ins for PP. Does PP really work with that hardware, in case I can’t master Edius Pro?

Thanks. It works just fine. I toyed with the idea of putting in a black menu with an invisible button. But no menu at all works well.

[tony salgado] “The are different models available one I consider the lightweight version and the other one which I have is heavier duty.

Contact Nalpak which is the manufacturer of the cart. “

This is a surprise to me. I looked at the Rock n’Roller website at
    https://www.rocknrollercart.com/index.htm

Anyway, even if I got a lightweight version, my #8 is great. I can’t think of a better investment for the money.

[Steve Wargo] “And where do we go to find this treasure? “

I got a price from B&H Photo/Video but then found a supplier (ATS Communications, near Wash., D.C. https://www.atscomms.com/contact.htm) who had the same price and can fill the tires with foam. I gather there are many suppliers in the music trade, as musicians seem to make up a big part of the RnR market.

It’s not going to take the abuse a Magliner will, but it folds up nicel and fits compactly in my car, so I can actually use it when I most need it: with a carload of equipment. I chose the #8.

Good to know, Tony, that it will last — it definitely is not over-built, but it seems adequate and the trade-off is that it is light. Again, thanks to those who recommended this item.

[David Garrett] “Bob, you are a gentleman and a scholar…”

Well, you’re half-right about that (maybe) — it sounds as if you figured it out. I don’t understand how the multiplexing caused the flagging error.

btw, Roadkill told me about ReStream. Neat, isn’t it?

    Glad it worked out.

Look at Architectural Digest. The top photographers tend to let the windows “blow out,” i.e. go overexposed, and let natural daylight at least SEEM to light the room. You could get away without gelling the windows if they read as over-exposed/white.

Fortunately you have a nice inanimate subject so you can test away.

have you checked the “flag” on the encoded video file?

ReStream will show you how it’s set.

[David Garrett] “the radio button on the 16:9 & 4:3 properties for the timelines is greyed out..”

It is set to one or the other, and won’t allow you to reset. That is common on encoded files whose aspect ratio “flag” has already been set, I believe.
