Lighting Interiors for Real Estate Showcase Demo
I would like to get opinions of others on how to best bring out the qualities of a model home interior using existing daylight and what I have listed below:
The gear:
Panasonic DVX100a
x2 Arri 1K tungsten Open face lights with barn doors.
x1 Arri 650w tungsten fresnel with barn doors
x2 Mole 300w tungsten fresnels with barn doors
x1 Westcott soft light bag.I understand that I either have to gel the windows to match the color temp. of the tungstens or gel the tungstens to correct for daylight. For starters, It’s easier for me to gel the lights than the windows.
I would like to get the most natural look possible. Achieving a warm fuzzy feel would be a bonus.
Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Look at Architectural Digest. The top photographers tend to let the windows “blow out,” i.e. go overexposed, and let natural daylight at least SEEM to light the room. You could get away without gelling the windows if they read as over-exposed/white.
Fortunately you have a nice inanimate subject so you can test away.

Dave,
One of the great features oif the DVX100 camera is the slow shutter speed. For interior architectural work this might come in handy to compensate for otherwise dark natural lighting. As long as there’s not movement in the frame (camera or subject) you can cheat by slowing down the shutter!
