YES.

Hand-hold your small DV, attached to a Kenyon Gyro-stabilizer. It feels like a big bowl of Jello. You can’t start and stop pans smoothly, but it maintains the momentum of any move, and takes out a lot of vibration.

I’m hardly the most experienced person on this forum, Ruby, but I’ve done that shot.

You should put the key light far enough away from both, so that one interviewee isn’t over-exposed relative to the other. Put the darker-complected person closer to the key light.

The Rifa, with its built-in diffusion, might be a nice key. But is it bright enough to be backed up a bit and still be the key? If not, you may want to augment it with the other lights bounced into a white card or with diffusion (a clear shower curtain, as long as it doesn’t catch fire, would work). You definitely should experiment before the shoot.

The only drawback to dumping to tape and recapturing is that I lose all my separate clips. No biggie.

You might want to look on the DVD Authoring forum; they’ve created a helpful guide for people with burning issues, including a list of software which will screw up DVD burning by continually trying to access the DVD drive.

good point except that the list of “best” plug-ins is continually changing.

I’d also check Trish Meyer’s columns from DV Magazine, archived on that site, and the ae-list listserve, whose URL I can’t recall.

Thanks for the reassurance. I’m guessing that what Richard meant by “relax in general” was whether we should relax about only the audio concerns, or about other PP concerns expressed in this thread.
