Giving us a gift please!!!! The new dual core processors are a huge leap over the present processors. Why spend 3000.00 on something when they’ll have the dual cores by the end of the year. They’ll probably come with HD Burners for all we know. I cant see owning a dual layer burner when HD is on its way. If you already have a dual 2gig or higher G5 your better off waiting. I’m going to be buying another computer for editing photographs but I’ll get the cheapest powermac and a 20 lcd or perhaps I’ll just get a G5 iMac. That way I wont be blowing money on an outdated architecture that is so close to replacement.

If apple always did what I thought, we’d be into a G 1 million now. That computer takes less than a second to encode a whole HD movie.

To be honest the so called ken burns effect isnt the best way of doing a slide show and its not the only way. I think its a nice touch with a couple of pictures but thats it. All effects are nice when used in moderation IMO.

She didnt say anything about doing the ken burns effects. I always scan in my pictures in 300dpi and save as a copy just in case I want to do a zoom and pan effect. If your just doing a regular slide show then why not just place them in an NTSC format?

I do this all the time. Scan the pictures in at 300 dpi. Then when you scan them in color correct, reduce noise etc. Go to image size, keep the dpi at 300 dpi and change the aspect ratio on length and width to 720 x whatever. If its a horizontal picture change the width to 720 and leave constrain proportions on. So you may end up with 508 (it could be anything)x 720 . If its a vertical picture then type in 720 in the height. So it might be 720 x 490 ( again it could be any value but it will be close to 480)
Select all copy and then go to file and pull down new. Select your NTSC template either regular or widescreen with guides. Then paste your picture into the canvas. Then select free transform and adjust the size to fit the guides. Remember to let the picture bleed outside the guides because all TVs are different. My plasma will actually pick up outside the guides. If you have any more problems feel free to email me main1event@aol.com

Actually its even easier than that. Find the frame you want to freeze from the Modify window choose make freeze frame. A new viewer will pop up with the frame and from there you can save it as a jpeg or whatever. You can also just take the frame from the viewer and drop it into your timeline or broswer assets.

You’ve been able to pick up a dual 2Ghz G5 for a grand less on Ebay for almost a year. This is extremely dissapointing, since FCP5 is coming out, I’d thought this round of G5’s would have a raid or something exciting built in. Perhaps the apple team could have come up with a quad G5 or something. Looks like I’ll have to wait for another 6 months for something better.

I could see upgrading to the new 2.7 G5 if it had the nvidia 6800 DDL but I think this round of PM updates is the least exciting since the G5’s were introduced.
