What kind of problems are you having? When you say 24 projects do you mean 24P? Changing your video display should have minimum impact, but you have to follow some guidelines, did you remove the old video drivers before installing the ATI drivers, this is causes alot of impact, If you didn’t, remove both the ATI drivers and the old drivers, reboot and reload the ATI drivers and see if that helps, also make sure you have the latest ATI drivers. -
Are you shooting for film or video? if sd video shoot in 60i, and add touches to look like film in post.

All three cams will shoot 60i, the VX only does 60i, why would you shoot in 24p on another cam and try to mix them?

Dual core is basically the same as two single processors, HT is a bit different, enhanced theading.
Ppro can take advantage of both, but only for algorithms written to use either/or both, not all program functions benifit from dual processors or hyperthreading, so they are not programed to use those functions.
Ppro is not 64bit at this time. -
Before drastic solutions try resetting the perferences, with PremierePro x.x hold down the shift key when starting premiere and hold till the recent/new project window appears, as it will reset some parameters to default always check the location of things like scratch disks, etc.

Do these dropouts repeat in the same place if you try to redo it, if so expand the time line in the area of the drop and see if there is dead space on the timeline in those particular places.

Are you using a external mike? the firewire cable or card/port shouldn’t determine whether its mono or stereo, the audio and video are part of the same track

Just holding down the shift key when starting Pro till the project new/select screen shows. It resets the Plugin Cache which now contains the preferences file.
