  • Unfortunately only the AMD 64s support Ppro2 but it does need the extra horsepower, its not too expensive to do a upgrade as there are socket 939 Mobos that have AGP slots and most will use PC2700/PC3200 memory so you can get away with just buying a processor and MoBo and reusing drives, case and video card.

  • [Aaron Strader] “Premiere and Encore are picky about the CPU in the system for some reason.”

    Which CPU?

I see you describe you HD system, why don’t you include the specs for your whole computer, processor, Mobo, chipset, video card, etc, from you current description of your HD system it seems like you have an older system which could be giving you performance problems.

Is this for external video or computer video?

  • [Timo-UK] “The original camcorder captures within PremierePro are interlaced. I can only think I recorded/imported them into Premiere Pro incorrectly? Or is all camcorder footage interlaced?”

Yes, unless the cam has custom settings it will be interlaced.

If you are exporting to DVD why deinterlace? you would be limiting the DVD to playing on progressive scan DVD players, if you have a interlaced DVD it will playback on different players and Screens

  • [Timo-UK] “it seems that it’s interlaced when I export it.”

What format are you exporting to? if back to tape it will be interlaced.

[mikemcoo@efn.org] “Uh, you lost me there. What is “scan disk?” (Running win2kpro, and I don’t seem to have anything called scan disk).”
Scan Disk is sort of a generic name for the error checking utility listed under Tools in the properties area of a HD(older versions of windows listed it as Scan Disk)

First thing with weird Adobe problems is to re-create the Premiere preferences file , you just start Premiere while holding down Control and Shift keys, when the splash screen loads you can release them, you may have to redo any custom preferences like scratchdisks, capture drives, etc.
If reseting the preferences doesn’t cure the problem you may have file corruption on the Harddisk or bad areas, you should run scan disk with surface scan and keep track of what file are effected by problems, it may require software reloading.

One solution is to put a signal stabilizer in line with the video feeding the camcorder for pastthrough, They are cheap Time Base Correctors and sync rebuilders, there are differenct models made by Sima that run between $60 and $100, B & H carries them.
