prem 6.5 quits before finishing
Posted by Zowie Repoza on February 19, 2006 at 6:35 pmBeen using prem for years, and here’s a brand new weirdness:
on a 27-minute video project, when I choose to export timeline, no matter which options I go for, movie or encoded MV2, Premiere quits before the project’s done and shuts down.
Anyone experienced this behavior with prem 6.5?
Thanx, for your attention,

February 20, 2006 at 2:20 amFirst thing with weird Adobe problems is to re-create the Premiere preferences file , you just start Premiere while holding down Control and Shift keys, when the splash screen loads you can release them, you may have to redo any custom preferences like scratchdisks, capture drives, etc.
If reseting the preferences doesn’t cure the problem you may have file corruption on the Harddisk or bad areas, you should run scan disk with surface scan and keep track of what file are effected by problems, it may require software reloading. -

February 20, 2006 at 6:40 pmUh, you lost me there. What is “scan disk?” (Running win2kpro, and I don’t seem to have anything called scan disk).
Decided to go back to a straight WindowsDV export of the project, and it got to the 26th minute of a 27-minute movie and quit. The resultant 5-gig movie file was corrupt.
Tried your advice, about resetting preferences. Haven’t re-loaded the project yet.
Thanx, Blast, for your advice and help,

Scan Disk is sort of a generic name for the error checking utility listed under Tools in the properties area of a HD(older versions of windows listed it as Scan Disk) -

February 22, 2006 at 6:19 amFound it, blast. The disk that Prem’s installed to checked out error-free. I’m wondering if it might not be a good idea to take your advice and remove/re-install Prem6.5.
Thanx heaps, for your help
