April 5, 2007 at 9:28 pm in reply to: Premier Pro CS3 turns a blind eye to major format AGAIN???[Jake] “I am completely in awe that they have left out MXF (used by:Avid, Panasonic, Autodesk for wrapping files), DVCPRO 25, 50, HD codec support.”
There are licencing fees involved, how much would be spent to service how many clients.
How are you going to get some of those formats into the computer, most cards that support them also include codecs. -
[PMeyer] “Could anyone suggest a breakout box for this Mac editing station that I’ll be purchasing”
What kind of I/O do you want on your BOB?

[Chris Smith667] “Actually, I meant “A/V–>DV Out” not “HDV–>DV” on the camera menu setting. Sorry for that error”
You need the HDV plug-in like you mentioned in your other post, you need to set the “iLink Conv” to “Off” vice “HDV–>DV”, The “A/V->DV OUT” is a pass-through(converter) function where you can put a A/V analog signal on the “Audio/Video” input and it will convert it to DV for iLink manual capture for editing.

Its always very tempting to get the latest and greatest, its hard to do but I forced myself to wait, if its going to be a system it going to be around for a while and its hard to justify a high price for a low performance increase, so six months or so helps in the pocket.

[typpeo] “I understand that an external drive is just the internal drives they are reviewing in an enclosure but the enclosure can cause a lot of problems, which is what we are having.”
Are the drives you are using out of warranty? What kind of problems are the enclosures causing? Do you do alot of hot swapping?[typpeo] “I could get some different opinions on what people are using that would be great”
I prefer to buy external enclosures and drives separately, that way you can get a much better warranty as most branded external drives are 1yr and internal drives are 3-5yrs depending on brand and size.
Like Harm mentioned everyone will have a different opinion of what’s best, over the years I’ve used different brands in intergrating systems with no particular brand standing out except one brand which got out of the drive business after much bad karma, I currently use KingWin eSATA enclosures with Maxtor 500gig drives, as I find there is less trouble keeping drive assignments sorted out, and data xfer problems then there is with USB and firewire drives. -
If you notice there is a Artbeats ad in the upper right of this page.

The Pentium D aren’t a good overclocking candidate, the Conroe Core 2 duo is much better, a E6600 usually 3ghz with no problems with decent cooling, some people* run them much higher but stability goes out the window.
* not sure if some gamers are considered people any more. 🙂
