A question from a newbie again. Thanks for any help you can offer. I am trying to capture HD video from my Sony HDR-FX1 in Premiere Pro 1.5, but for some reason the system seems to want to be forcing me to capture it as DV and the quality is dropping. When I set the camera menu setting for i.LINK CONV to “Off” in order to keep the HD quality, Premiere Pro says the capture device is offline. When I change that menu setting to “HDV–>DV” then Premiere Pro can capture, but then is doing so into DV, it seems. Forgive my inexperience, but: What am I doing wrong? All I want is to keep my HD quality in my PP editing and DVD output. A million thanks for any help anyone can give!

Actually, I meant “A/V–>DV Out” not “HDV–>DV” on the camera menu setting. Sorry for that error.

Ah, I just found an Adobe plugin which appears to enable 1.5 to handle HDV. That may be my answer. Thanks.

You need the HDV plug-in like you mentioned in your other post, you need to set the “iLink Conv” to “Off” vice “HDV–>DV”, The “A/V->DV OUT” is a pass-through(converter) function where you can put a A/V analog signal on the “Audio/Video” input and it will convert it to DV for iLink manual capture for editing.
