A external eSata drive should be fine for capture, particularly if you have captured other tapes with no problem, the tapes themselves might be the problem, they could have been shot in the LP mode, if so they should be played back in the cam they were shot in, even then they can cause grief, also sometimes older DV tapes can get flaky from improper storage

You need to supply somemore info on your computer like it spec, cards, number of harddrives and how they are configured, etc. you should have at least 2 drives, 3 is better, also you need to make sure you don’t have alot of processes running in the background when editing, resident programs can raise problems

[jimmybee500] “Ouch…not too sure about 3GB switch..I’ve heard some horror stories”

The only ones I’ve heard is people who don’t configure their systems correctly or have a ton of crap on their machines that have nothing to do with editing.

One way is to use some footage shot a the beach if there is one near you or use stock footage for background, and add text with a little 3D program called Bluff-Titler(outerspace-software.com)

They are talking about playing back the timeline through the intensity card via HDMI output for either monitoring or if you have the appropriate hardware recording it, just like playing back the timeline through firewire, if the horse power is there.

Good question, what version, standard? 64bit? I was thinking about it also, one question I would have is would something looking for SP2 like on XP consider the 2003 R2 pack the same? I tried running Ppro2 on XP64 and it was iffy.

[jeremy] “You must have been the “psychic” that the smart mouth before you was talking about.”
You have nerve to call me a “Smart Mouth”, I didn’t call you LAZY, I could have, 1: Too lazy to do a internet search for the problem, probably would have turned up 1000+ answers, 2: Too lazy to do a forum search, the question has been asked countless times 3: Too lazy to add a bit of pertinent info to determine whether its a system or codec problem, so a more germane answer could be given vice a WAG.
